The Committee

The Committee is the society’s executive body. Elected yearly in early March, they are in charge of organsing events, discussions and socials for the academic year. Please direct all enquiries to the Secretary in the first instance.

President – Christian Potiszil- president@aass.org.uk

Vice-president -Caitlin Greenwood – vice-president@aass.org.uk
Caitlin is the resident Arts head-case (though this doesn’t mean she can draw worth a damn). Weirdly dedicated to AASS, she’s still very easy to distract with history questions: wind her up, let her go, ignore her for the rest of the rant…

Treasurer – Dan Adams- treasurer@aass.org.uk

Secretary – Hannah Myall – secretary@aass.org.uk

Academic Secretary – Michael Harratt – academic-secretary@aass.org.uk
Our former President, deposed by a Union rule on term limits and studentship, Mike has been shifted to the mostly harmless post of Academic Secretary. That makes him responsible for writing discussions, recruiting speakers and generally growling in the corner to make problems go away – especially UBU shaped problems. He’s just about to graduate with a BSc in Immunology & Virology and is hoping to force his way back into university in a year or so because the real world is scary and dark.

Social Secretary – Oliver Mounsey – social-secretary@aass.org.uk
An active member since enrolling at the University in 2009, Olly previously held the position of Academic Secretary. Where he was able to bring an exciting array of speakers, including Iranian dissident and political activist, Azar Majedi; developmental biologist, author and broadcaster, emeritus professor Lewis Wolpert; and prominent author and chemist, professor Peter Atkins. An undergraduate microbiologist, Olly hopes to one day rid the world or disease, or wipe out the human race with an infectious sterility causing virus – depends what mood he’s in really.
